New Update

Epson Stylus Color 460 (Rs 6,950, Epson India, Bangalore, hari@epsonindia.com, 80-5094565/70) is a Windows-only color inkjet printer, and has drivers for digital camerasThe Stylus Color 460 is Epson’s latest offering for the home user.

Priced fairly low, it offers a maximum resolution of 720x720 dpi, even on plain paper. It takes one minute to print four pages of black text, and 5.4 minutes per page for a full-page color graphic, which is fairly good for home use. It’s a Windows-only printer with drivers for Win 9x/NT 4, and connects to the parallel port of the PC. Like its older cousin–the Stylus Color 660–the drivers of the 460 have also been enhanced for digital cameras. It can print on a wide range of media–including iron-on transfer, transparencies, photo-quality glossy film, speciality inkjet paper, inkjet cards, etc.

The 460 needs a margin space of 3 mm on the top, 9 mm on the sides, and 14 mm at the bottom. It’s possible to reduce this margin space to 3 mm on all sides, using the printer driver, but there will be a loss in print quality.

While Epson packs software like Print Artist and Loony Tunes with some of the higher-end models, the 460 comes with no such goodies. This can be a bit disappointing for the home user.
