While one cannot ask for too much from these high capacity drives, nevertheless you have some options that are definitely worth considering. Here’s a chosen few products available currently.

WD my Passport 1 Tb
Western Digital (WD) launched its upgraded external drives named My Passport and for a drive with 1 TB storage support to be priced at less than Rs 6,000 it has to be one of the top contenders when it comes to buying an external drive. It weighs 134 grams, making it one of the lightest external drives in the segment. WD My Passport is slim and comes with a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port and an LED indicator light on the right. The drive gets its power from the USB 3.0 port, which means that no external power source is required.

The most interesting part about the drive is its integration with social networking sites, which enables the user to save pictures from Facebook and Flickr among others directly on the drive. The Backup Plus however is not the most durable and one must use it with care. Overall, the drive is portable, offers decent output, small form factor and easy to use as well. The USB 3.0 cable in-the-box is slightly short and could be a hindrance while working on a desktop.

In terms of features you get One Touch back-up facility that enables you to use the drive as a separate entity when connected to a system. At 140grams, the drive is quite light which makes it easy to carry and overall, the drive is capable of handling daily rough and tough usage. As you can see from the transfer speeds (see table), it is purely meant for users who require an external storage drive for its sheer capacity and not so much for its speed.
