The FastSURFR is a 56 kbps, plug-n-play
modem. It performed well in our tests and gave good surfing speeds, with unbroken connects
for long periods. We also tried to download some files off some public FTP servers, using
a MantraOnline account. The results were good, but a lot depended on the vagaries of the
connect from the other end. Broadly speaking, our experience with the modem was
good.
The mo

major communication standards today, including the V90 and K56 Flex standards. It also
supports the full-AT command set.
It’s completely plug-n-play,
and Windows recognizes it as soon as the machine is on. The modem connects
to the telephone lines using the standard RS232 interface. It also has a
provision for connecting speakers and a microphone. It comes with a CD which
has drivers for the modem and Trio communication software. You can use this
to receive phone calls–like an answering machine, and also send and
receive faxes.
