When it comes to hype there is one thing that is certain and that is unrealistic expectations. The more hype you create around your product the more the expectations will become until it reaches a point that the only realistic outcome becomes disappointment. In the collective recent memory of the world the biggest disappointment was Cyberpunk 2077. In India however, we got another massive disappointment on the 26th of January. FauG was released on that day and what followed was a collective sigh of sadness that engulfed the entire mobile gaming community.

So who exactly was at fault here because it is blatantly obvious that the game is boring. Maybe not boring, but I rather play ludo on my device. I remember covering the game when the first images and the trailer were released and even at that time I knew this is a campaign based game. The real issue was that nCore Studios never, and I do mean never actually tempered expectations. They just went along with the hype that FauG was going to be a PUBG Mobile replacement. Sadly it wasn't and it was never going to be. They actually went out of their way to create a false sense of excitement by withholding everything that was relevant to the game. No one knows exactly knows why they followed this path. Realistically speaking there was no way under the sky that a small studio with no background in game development could make a PUBG Mobile replacement.

Be that as it may the fact remains that FauG was and will be a major replacement. Off the top of my head I can say that Marvel Strike Force is a far superior game to this. The main reason why FauG got doomed the day it got released is not because it was not a battle royale game. The main reason was that is was boring. You can't make a game good by saying it was inspired by the feats of the Indian military. It is an insult of the army and of the intelligence of the people. In their defense nCore Studios has said that they will be adding TDM mode in the game which in itself is funny. How exactly do you add team deathmatch in a game that has no maps or anything to support the mode.

Does that mean that nCore Studios cannot make a comeback? Nope. There have been worse dissapontmnets in the history of gaming and what nCore Studios should do is go back to the drawing board. Players in India want a good battle royale desperately that can restart the eSports scene of the country. They can actually start making a good game from the scratch and be honest to the players. Players are very forgiving and when they see actual efforts being made by an Indian game studio then even they will support and offer feedback. Till then all we have are articles that will talk about when PUBG Mobile is coming back to India.
