The new and latest iPhones are here, and they bring in multiple features that users had been waiting to see on Apple phones. The phones come with new colours and a revamped design that keeps them looking different from the ones from the previous generation. The iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max have a number of new features, but the other two phones from the line-up seem to be missing something. These features can be seen even in the older Android phones, and it is high time that Apple incorporates these features that are still missing.

Higher Refresh Rate

It was like a breath of fresh air to see Apple finally coming out with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate in the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max. However, the iPhone 13 and 13 mini still come with a 60 Hz panel. In 2021, even some mid-range phones are coming with refresh rates higher than 60. Therefore, it would have been very interesting to have a high refresh rate screen on a compact phone like the iPhone 13 Mini. Looks like the consumers will have to wait at least another year to experience that.

Fresh Design

It would not take more than a mere look to point out the uncanny resemblance that iPhone 13 and 13 Mini have to the previous generation iPhone 12 and 12 Mini. The only design revamp has been the change in the positioning of the cameras. The company claims that the performance is better with the new camera module, but that is a completely different topic of conversation. As far as the design is concerned, it's not that much of a breath of fresh air. Competitors like Samsung and OnePlus have been going all out with their designs of flagship phones.

USB-C Support

Imagine a scenario, you are on the move and your iPhone dies, and you are not carrying a charger for the phone. However, you do have your wireless speaker with USB-C charging. You can charge your phone with the same charger. This is the reality of most Android users. Unfortunately, iOS users will have to wait to exercise that level of convenience. The iPhone 13 series does not come with USB-C support. The gadgets launched alongside the iPhone like the iPad and the iPad Mini have USB-C support, but the phones still wait for it.

In-Display Fingerprint Scanner

Apple mysteriously shunned off the fingerprint scanner in their "X" series phones, and it has been the same since then. The decision was made in order to push their up and coming technology at the time, the Face ID. However, it's time that Apple brings back the fingerprint scanner. An in-display fingerprint scanner can co-exist with the Face ID. There are multiple Android phones doing the same. This will not only give the consumer more options, but a fingerprint scanner is also more secured than the Face ID. An implementation of sorts should happen.

Notch-Free Screen

Notches are a thing of the past. Phones, nowadays, come with complete screens with a punch hole or water drop notch at the top to incorporate the front-facing camera and some sensors. Some smartphones have even managed to incorporate all of that underneath the screen. Apple has still decided to go with the notch in 2021 and even though it is 20% smaller now, it still takes a good amount of the screen real estate. It's time we bid adieu to the notch on iPhones.

These were some of the major things and features that the new iPhones lacked. The phones will be powerhouses because that is what Apple delivers, but it's time they come with features and changes that have been very common in the market and have taken a place in the list of a customer's expectations from a flagship smartphone.
