FIFA has expressed interest in launching its own football simulation video game, while EA is planning to rebrand their franchise as EA Sports FC. FIFA just released its first non-EA game, titled "FIFA World Cup AI League," as the first step in that approach.
It was announced last year that after 29 years, the long-standing collaboration between video game producer Electronic Arts (EA) and the world football governing body FIFA will come to an end. The two organisations have since made the decision to part ways in the video gaming sector.
The mobile game is now free to download on Android, but an iOS version will be released later. It was created by AlteredStateMachine, a "AI Metaverse company" with its headquarters in New Zealand.
Focus on AI
The trailer showed glimpses of artificial intelligence, indicating that FIFA is betting heavily on its inclusion in the game to entice players. Squeezing the word 'simulated intelligence' into a football match-up is an 'extraordinary' practice, which suggests the not set in stone to utilize the popular expression to support downloads.
However, the developers have made it clear that the game's use of AI-generated content and related features is more than just a moniker. AI is used, for instance, to define the in-game character's footballing traits and custom wardrobes.
The FIFA World Cup AI League is described as a football strategy and action game on the official website. It involves leading a group of AI-powered players, known as "AI All-Stars," improving their skills, and putting them online to compete with other players' teams.
The "Skill Blender" feature in AI League lets players shape their team with footballing traits like speed, skill, and endurance. Additionally, it provides a variety of customization options, including AI-generated patterns for wardrobe items.
In addition, the game provides multiple arenas in which players can compete in multiplayer matches. Moreover, they can see their standings in the local and worldwide competitor lists.
