Firefox OS was first showcased at the MWC 2013 this year and devices by the platform are already available across the globe. The ZTE Open smartphone is said to be part of the next chapter in the smartphone era, which will include other platforms like Ubuntu Touch and Tizen among others.

The world is well aware about the dominance of Android and iOS in the smartphone arena and with the introduction of options like Firefox OS, consumers will tend to get different users experiences (aided by the UI of the platform).

Unlike Windows Phone 8 (first devices launched were high-end), Mozilla has done its homework, which is why the first set of devices running on Firefox OS will be offered as entry-level handset and this clearly reflects in the specifications of the phone.

The ZTE Open smartphone sports a 3.5 inch display and packs 1 GHz CPU and 256 MB RAM with 512 MB expandable storage available. The phone comes with a 3.2 MP rear camera. The phone will be available on stores for Rs 6,990 while eBay.in is selling the same device for Rs 8,590.
