Forbes Marshall Group of Companies - Document Mgmt System (DMS)

The Problem: Forbes Marshall was facing challenge of securing their intellectual property. Also time & again the challenge faced was in distributing the correct version of drawing/document to other functions like, manufacturing, marketing etc in a secured mode. The DMS was conceived with an idea of managing the vast amount of data being processed by the R&D departments of various companies of the group.

The Solution: A custom developed open source application to handle this entire document flow was implemented. By adding the users to the domain, with a common policy; users are now not allowed to install any new application. Data on the server is mapped to each user according to their individual needs. Documents are managed by DMS, which is a web based application serving across the different functions.

The Result: The company could retain same set of PCs without calling for a major investment in replacing the existing hardware. This shift saved them Rs. 14.50 lacs. Now cross functions of the company are able to get the current and final version of the required document by simple search, thus saving good amount of time and have increased productivity.
