The popular check-in app, Foursquare is now divided into two parts, announced the company. People usually use the app for two things- to keep and meet up with their friends and to discover great places. Keeping this in view, the firm has now broken the app into two parts, one would the already popular- Foursquare and other app would be called Swarm.
The idea behind creating two separate apps is said to be done in order to enrich the user experience. The all new Swarm app has picked some major Foursquare features and firm also plans to revamp the existing Foursquare app with new design, features and changed UI.
The company said in its blog, Local search today is like the digital version of browsing through the Yellow Pages (remember those?). We believe local search should be personalized to your tastes and informed by the people you trust. The opinions of actual experts should matter, not just strangers. An app should be able answer questions like ‘give me a great date dinner spot' and not just ‘tell me the nearest gas station.' We're right now putting the final touches on this new, discovery-focused version of Foursquare. It'll be polished and ready for you later this summer."
The all new Swarm app helps you spot your friends who are in your vicinity and one can also share their activity or location with their friends. The app will initially be available for Android and iOS in a few weeks from now and thereafter it would come down to Windows Phone platform. Those who look forward to get Swarm to their handsets can sign up on swarmapp.com and get the notification when app arrives.
