Nearly 100 pharmacies have already gone live in the last few weeks and the balance will go live sequentially across other parts of Noida and Greater Noida. All the pharmacies will be allotted a QR code and a customer needs to scan the code to complete the payment - a process which takes less than 10 seconds.

FreeCharge’s association with the pharmacies will help users in procuring required medicines without being restricted by the availability of currency notes. For the chemists, this represents both a short term solution - keeping sales unaffected and a long term solution, as handling of cash, including its transportation to banks is time consuming and effort intensive. All payments made at the shop through FreeCharge will be auto-credited to the pharmacy’s FreeCharge account, which the pharmacy can then withdraw to its bank account, through which they can pay for all establishment expenses.

Commenting on the association, Sudeep Tandon, Chief Business Officer, FreeCharge said, “FreeCharge’s constant aim is to solve the day to day problems of its consumers. By enabling pharmacies across Noida & Greater Noida to accept digital payments using FreeCharge, we want to ensure that no customer in need should ever face stress in buying medicines in the event of cash liquidity issues.”
