At its annual global conference in Munich on 24-25th November, 2010 attended by over 8000business analysts, IT decision makers andtechnology heads from across the globe, Fujitsu intro-duced technologies to drive enterprise cloud adoptionand also unveiled latest components for datacenters,server rooms and desktops.

Datacenters in a box - blade com-puting for mid-size companies

Fujitsu launched PRIMENERGY BX400 which is a dat-acenter in a box, providing a combination of 8 servers orstorage blades. It integrates applications in both physi-cal environment and virtualized environment in partner-ship with NetApp. BX400 incorporates Intel Xeon 5600series processors and ServerView software suite for in-tegrated system management & monitoring.

It supports OS like Windows and Linux, as well as hy-pervisers like MicroSoft Hyper-V, VMware and Citrix Zen.

Micro Servers for Small Businesses

Jens-Peter Seick says “A micro server is a great start-ing point for growing businesses that are outgrowingpatchwork networks and looking for the security andreliability of server based computing, without theprice tag they feared.”

Fujitsu introduced PRIMENERGY MX130 S1, anAMD-based platform for file, web and print services,is an alternative to sharing business data via error-prone combination of peer-to-peer networks, easilystolen USB drives and inter-office e-mails. It comeswith MS Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation OS andfeatures up to 16GB of professional server-gradememory that can cope with running shared officeserver applications. System upgrades to memory size,hard disk space, add-on cards and back-up options canbe added as business needs demand. It also gets thebenefits of the entire PRIMENERGY line-up, such as24x7 reliability and RAID capabilities. Available to or-der from December 1, 2010, the model will start ship-ping later in December 2010.

Zero Client for VDI

In a Zero Client environment, all operating systems,applications, data, computing power and memory arelocated on a centralized server instead of individual machines. Zero clients offer reliability, better energyefficiency and can be managed and administered cen-trally, saving significant time and cost.

Fujitsu Zero Clients support hypervisors likeVMware ESX(i), Microsoft Hyper-V and as of January2011, Citrix Zen Desktop. Portable Zero Client MZ900comes in the form of a USB stick and enables plug-andplay ease of use and allows desktop virtualization on the go. On the hardware front, the two new modelslaunched are Zero Client DZ22-2 and Zero ClientDZ19-2 available in 22-inch and 19-inch display panels.

Dynamic Cloud Computing

Dynamic cloud is a new set of pre-integrated and con-figured services enabling migration to private or hy-brid cloud-based services. Fujitsu Dynamic Cloud ofglobally linked standardized offerings builds on theIaaS platform. By providing policy and business re-quirement based choice over factors like physical lo-cation and future portability of data, Fujitsu intends toremove major stalling points of compliance and lock-in. Enabling local hosting and data mirroring at strate-gic geographical points overcomes latency issues forservices delivered remotely.

'Private' cloud is an enterprise-specific environmentand 'Trusted' cloud is used by Fujitsu and other ven-dors to refer to an environment where a limited num-ber of customers share a single cloud. The newinfrastructure from Fujitsu enables customers toswitch data and services between private and trustedclouds, in a process known as 'cloud bursting'. By al-lowing the exchange of data and interface between pri-vate and trusted cloud, and between hosted andon-premise services, customers are able to offload en-tire IT infrastructures to cloud environments benefitsin terms of cost control and service availability.

Besides the product launches, the event co-spon-sored by Intel, Microsoft, NetApp, Oracle, SymantecTDS, VMware, SAP, Brocade, Citrix, Samsung,EMC2, Novell, Quantum and GDATA, comprised ofvarious keynote sessions, expert talks and breakoutsessions to showcase the future ready technology so-lutions for enterprises and small-medium businesses.
