We reviewed a gamers delight in the form of Leadtek Winfast A350 Ultra in our October issue. It was based on the same NVidia 5900 chipset that also comes in the Gainward 5900FX power pack golden sample. Along with the features of the card, its look also defines its identity. This one comes with swanky aluminum heat syncs fitted with two cooling fans, both of which emit red light when switched on.
Gainward cards have been an overclocker’s dream. This one has a big heat sync to facilitate the same, and its next release, the 5950FX, whenever it becomes available will come bundled with a water-cooling kit.
The core frequency of the card we reviewed is 450 MHz and the memory frequency 850 MHz. It comes with a whooping 256 MB of DDR memory built in.
The test system that we used had the configuration of P4 3.0 GHz, 512 MB 400 MHz dual channel DDR RAM and Win XP SP1. Lets see how this red devil performed in the tests.
The test suit included Quake 3 Arena, Serious Sam, Unreal Tournament 2003, 3D Mark 2001, Direct X 9, 3D Mark 2003 and the latest Detonator drivers by NVidia. The tests were run on a display resolution of 1024x768 and 1600x1200 at 32-bit depth. The tests were run normally as well as after overclocking. The core was overclocked up to 492 Mhz whereas the memory up to 911 Mhz. The results of the test are given in the table attached.

While the results are comparable to the other Leadtek Geforce card. The performance increase can be seen in both 3D marks. As seen from the results the card performed better when overclocked in case of Unreal Tournament and 3D Marks, while there was not much change in the performance of Quake 3 and Serious Sam.

But, is overclocking worth all that effort? Well, it is more of the enthusiast thing. The performance boost from overclocking is not as much as the adrenalin boost.
Also, priced at around 25K, this card can only appeal to a computer gaming freak or a high-end graphic user.
