New Update

This is by far, one of the most topsy-turvy markets that we've seen. Creative continues to win second year in a row, and has consolidated its position further. While last year, the runner-up was only behind by 18 points, the picture is completely different this year. The runner up is lagging behind by a whopping 48 points. But somehow this doesn't come as a surprise, largely because it's a fairly crowded market with cut throat competition between gaming cards vendors. For instance, the runner up this time, Asus, was nowhere in the picture last year. ATI and nVidia were in the club last year, but are not in the club this time. This, of course, raises further doubts. One is whether the strong brand associations that ATI and nVidia enjoyed last year have come down. Or it is that the buyers have become more aware and are making their purchase decisions based on card vendors' offerings instead? Creative enjoys the highest brand loyalty this year, although it was ATI and nVidia last year. Asus also needs to pull up its socks, as many of its existing customers (23%) said they wanted to shift to Creative.

SiS needs to really put its act together if it wants to compete in this market, as it has the lowest brand loyalty. It faces biggest threats from both Creative as well as Asus. Creative received nearly equal support ranging from 30% to 36% of the total votes from across India. Asus followers painted a similar picture, although the percentage of votes were slightly higher in the East for it. None of the other key players in this market, be it Gainward, MSI, XFX, PNY and so on got enough votes for us to comment about them. It's a pretty interesting market to watch. Our guess is that we'll see some more brands enter the club next year.
