New Update

Network servers have grown tremendously in both numbers and variety. Last year also saw a rise in appliance servers. While these are yet to make an impact, we split the server market in two categories, general purpose and high-end. The former are used for file sharing and similar tasks, while the latter for hosting enterprise-level apps such as ERP and messaging.

Last year, assembled servers ruled the roost followed by IBM and Compaq. This year, they have dropped out, and Compaq is the brand that users intend to buy. IBM, like last year, is giving Compaq a tough time for the top spot. Most people chose Compaq because it’s a popular brand, and secondly for good quality.
