Gigabyte launches the Z490 motherboards

Gigabyte has now officially announced the Z490 motherboards for Comet Lake.

Intel officially released the Comet Lake CPUs for desktop yesterday, which means that we also will be getting new motherboards for the new generation of Intel CPUs. Gigabyte has now officially announced the Z490 motherboards for Comet Lake.

As we are transitioning into the PCIe 4.0 era with Comet Lake having support for the lanes, Z490 will be providing full support for PCIe 4.0. The CPUs will be coming with the new LGA 1200 socket, which means older platforms will not be able to support Comet Lake and would require the Z490 motherboards. 

As for the lineup, the flagship of Gigabyte’s Aorus series will be the Z490 Aorus Extreme Waterforce, which will have water an AIO monoblock and is suited for enthusiasts. The i9-10900K will be able to run at 5GHz with 10 cores and 20 threads, so you are going to need all the cooling you can get.  This model will also have Thunderbolt 3 socket. This top end Motherboard will also have a 16 phase VRM. 

On the lower end of the lineup the Z490 Aorus Ultra will have a 12 phase VRM whereas the Master variant will have a 14 phase VRM. Cross the complete Aorus series, the motherboards will have an Intel Wifi 6 adapter. All of the motherboards will also come with USB 3.2 support as well. Starting from the GIGABYTE Z490 AORUS PRO, the lineup implements Fins-Array II technology. The boards will also have Intel’s 2.5 Gbps Ethernet. 

Coming to memory, all the Aorus motherboards will come with a Daisy Chain memory routing and each DIMM slot will be able to support 32GB of DDR4 RAM at 4800 Mhz.
