Google Currents is a magazine app for tablets and smartphones. Currently available for Android and iOS devices, the application brings in many disparate news sources in one place.
Apart from the variety of sources the app offers a list of featured content including Forbes, CNET, etc. The app allows you to discover, share and read your favourite news outlets, blogs and online magazines (what they call as editions) on your smart devices even when you're offline.
Here are the features of Google Currents.
News categories
The app brings in news from several categories including entertainment, sports, lifestyle and more. You can access all your content from the sidebar grouped into categories. Just swiping horizontally, you can quickly browse through all your top articles from different editions and categories.
News editions
If you swipe vertically, you can scan and read headlines in a particular edition. Also, you don't end up viewing same article again as it gets marked red once you scan through it.
Breaking stories
As per the official blog entry, Google uses some search technologies to deliver you hot stories in popular categories like world, entertainment, sports, science, etc. Google Currents news stories are customized for countries and languages.
