Google's Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones will be unveiled on 4 October at the 'Made by Google' event. As the new Pixel phones approach their release date, claimed hands-on photographs of the Pixel 8 Pro have leaked online. The most recent leak appears to show a black Pixel 8 Pro. It has minimal bezels around the display and a hole-punch cutout in the centre of the screen for the selfie camera. They envision a handset with a matte glass surface and a triple rear camera setup on the back.

Pixel 8 Pro: Photographs of Pixel 8 Pro dummy devices

On Facebook, a Vietnamese user (LEAKs Viet Nam) published hands-on photographs of Pixel 8 Pro dummy devices. The pictures show the front and back of the Pixel 8 Pro phone and hint at a design style similar to last year's Pixel 7 Pro. However, it is delivered in black with tiny bezels surrounding the panel. The display has a hole-punch cutout in the centre for the selfie camera.

The renderings for the Pixel 8 Pro's back suggest a matte finish. This would be a departure from the Pixel 7 Pro's design. Google had previously employed glossy glass coatings on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series. In addition, the renders show a triple camera unit at the back, situated in the pill-shared cutout in the camera bar. The flash and thermometer sensors are similarly housed on the horizontally formed camera island.

This isn't the first time we've seen live shots of the Pixel 8 Pro. The handset was first seen in live photos in July, with design details and the codename "husky" leaking. Google has also officially announced the Pixel 8 Pro's design. The Pixel 8 series will be unveiled on 4 October in New York at 10:00 am local time (7:30 pm IST). During the 'Made by Google event, the Pixel Watch 2 and a new colour for the Pixel Buds Pro will also be unveiled. The forthcoming handsets will be pre-ordered on Flipkart in India beginning 5 October.

Pixel 8 Pro

The next Pixel smartphone generation is expected to launch with Android 14. The standard Pixel 8 is believed to have a 6.17-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, while the pro model will have a 6.71-inch LTPO OLED screen with QHD resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The new Tensor G3 SoC will power them. They are expected to come in two RAM configurations (8GB and 12GB) and two storage configurations (128GB and 256GB RAM). The Pixel 8 Pro is rumoured to ship with a 4,950mAh battery that supports 27W wired fast charging. Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 could come with a 4,485mAh battery that supports 24W cable charging and 12W wireless charging.
