New Update
GTX 1650 Ultra

I get it. This wasn’t the news you were probably expecting when you read the first two words. Nevertheless, a new graphics card is being released, and it is called the Nvidia GTX 1650 Ultra.

Now this won’t be much different from your base GTX 1650. The GTX 1650 Ultra will have the same specs as its base counterpart, except for one variable, the higher TDP of 90W. This has been made possible because of the higher end chips they will be using: the TU106 instead of the regular TU116. This higher TDP will leave a little bit of wiggle room for better performance. However, on paper at least, the 1650 Super is still a better card.

What is important about this news is what it possibly foreshadows. The TU106 chips were used for high end cards like the RTX 2070. The fact that the higher quality silicon is being used for the GTX 1650 Ultra means that it is in surplus and Nvidia is selling it to companies to finish up their inventory. Which in turn means that Nvidia might soon seize production of the higher end cards to for the new generation of high end 3000 series cards. So ready your horses, we are definitely getting new GPUs soon.
