Performance-wise, the Guardian 500 VA gives a better
switchover time (4.2 milliseconds as against 12 milliseconds for its sibling), but lesser
backup time (4 minutes as against 10 minutes for 250 VA). It is this brief backup time and
low efficiency of 76% at 230 W that let the Guardian 500 down.
Guardian |
A 500 VA UPS with low efficiency and very low back up time. Provision for software control and external. Better value than its 250 VA version. Rs 9,500. RQS |
The 500’s switchover time is marginally better
than both the Nissan and the Accure, and like them its battery float voltage too is
outside limits. Although it cold-started a 250 VA load, the usefulness of this is doubtful
with a low backup time, as the Guardian has only one 12 V, 7AH battery while the Datex has
two 12 V, 7 AH and the Nissan two 12 V, 11 AH batteries, hence the low backup time.
Pricewise, the Guardian Sleek 500 gives better VA for money
than the Datex, Nissan or even its own 250 VA sibling.
