Granted that laptops and tablets hold a large mindshare in the market; but the Desktop PC market is no less exciting even today. HP-Compaq remains the undisputed winner in both segments i.e. 100 to 499 employees segment, as well as 500+ employees segment. Last year too, HP-Compaq held the same clout in this category.

In the 100 to 499 employees segment there is a complete shuffle of positions, even though the set of brands in this segment are the same as last year. Lenovo/IBM has moved up to the second spot from its fourth position last year, with 63% respondents as the current brand owners. This one is a huge climb, considering that Lenovo-IBM only had secured 21% of respondents last year. As a result, Dell has moved down one position to sit at the third spot this year with an index score of 52% which is more than the 33% score it recorded last year. HCL too has slipped down one position to be at the fourth spot this year, even though the index score has increased to 48% this year as compared to 26% last year.

In the 500+ employees category too, Lenovo-IBM has moved up from its third spot to secure the spot at second this year; going from 24% score last year to 77% this year. Dell fell from its second position last year to be on the third spot this year, even though the brand got 64% respondents as compared to 31% last year. HCL maintains its position at number four in this category — the same as last year, with total respondents of 41% this year, as compared to 20% last year.

As for brand loyalty, HP commands as much as 90% users' confidence in the 100 to 499 employees segment, and 97% in the 500+ employees segment. Dell scores the most brand loyalty in the 100 to 499 segment with 93% of users' deciding to stick with the brand, closely followed by Lenovo-IBM users who have got the brand score of 92% brand loyalty. HCL needs to worry with only 73% users being confident about continuing with them.
