HCL Prism is here to provide the budget-conscious buyers the freedom to
posses a lifestyle, classy-looking notebook at a standard price. This is based
on the prism design which first saw its light with Nokia's Prism phone. The
12.1-inch notebook comes with low frequency Intel Core 2 Duo processor based on
Intel's current Santa Rosa Platform. Bundled with 2 GB of RAM and 160 GB of HDD
this one has almost all regular features like Bluetooth, Web Cam, Fire Wire,
Gigabit Ethernet port, etc. It also comes with HCL EC 2 technology which
provides an extra level of protection for your data. The keys of the keypad are
a little smaller; we have seen better key size in 12.1” notebooks previously.

Performance wise it was decent, nothing extraordinary. In PC Mark a score of
2624 is good enough for this range of notebooks. We have seen similar
performance in Sahara EK50 also. Being a lifestyle notebook no one expects it to
be a gaming machine, so the low score in 3D Mark06 is nothing to be bothered
about. It comes with a 4 cell Li-ion battery, so the battery backup of 1.20 hr
in our Battery Mark4 test was expected.
Bottomline: A good buy for those who like to flaunt their notebooks in public
but are constrained by the price
