BigChemist, an online health product and services company was established in May 2013 with a unique vision of offering trouble-free, effectual and holistic medical solutions and services to people.
Business Challenges
The company was facing severe technology hurdles like lack of ahvailability of real time inventory across their website and mobile app. They also needed applicability of the schemes and promotions specific to the local geography, with a system to accept all modes of payments like wallets, cards, and net banking, with split payment option. “We must have the ability to provide real time inventory aging, top selling items, batch number details and reservations for the orders confirmed,” said Puneet Kapoor, Director, BigChemist.
They needed an integrated solution for inventory and financial accounting with multiple methods of accepting payments, running multiple schemes and discounts. The solution also needed to be open to integrate public and private cloud using APIs for two-way flow of data both real-time and batch process.
Implementation of the Solution
After evaluating multiple business solutions, BigChemist identified ePaisa to manage their point-of-sale inventory and billing. “The solution provides us with open APIs to integrate the order flow from the public cloud in AWS for customer orders to the ePaisa private cloud hosted on an Android based integrated hardware at different fulfillment locations,” added Kapoor.
The solution also accepts all payment methods from online gateway, wallets, smart and swipe cards as-well as payment-on-delivery modes. The solution can be configured centrally for the item list, pricing, item tracking details, schemes and discounts. The configuration can be specific to a location and can be customized as needed to run local and global promotions. This provides insights into entire ecosystem wide inventory availability, movement, sales, demand and purchase supply requirements.
The Result
The solution can also be used offline in-case the network is unavailable or systems are down due to a power cut. Once the services resume it automatically syncs all data in the private cloud both ways. The solution thus works as hybrid for cloud and local hardware providing further stability and flexibility for keeping the transactions going.
The solution also offers the option to click images of the prescription for the walk-in customers and attaches them to their Invoice on the go. This can then be synced to the central cloud for record keeping. This is a very important and critical factor as it helps the company conform to regulatory requirements.
Overall the solution provides both operational and financial efficiency, reduces the overhead costs, upfront capital cost and has hugely impacted the bottom line of the business in a cut throat competitive environment.
