Hindu College of Engineering, Sonepat Haryana : Edumate

Although engineering colleges have been extensively teaching their students

the nitty gritty of IT and computers, theory is still far from being

transforming into practical benefits. So much so that the engineering college

itself relies on manual administration for day to day activities.

Edumate is a Web based e-Governance software developed inhouse by the Hindu

College of Engineering, Sonepat, Haryana, to get themselves rid of such hectic

workload and also to impart practical use of IT to the interested students. The

software simplifies governance of schools and colleges, right from the very

first day when students are enrolled to the day he quits the institution. The

system encompasses complete track of activities such as registration, fees

payments, ID card preparation, library management, attendance, etc. This

software is a web based solution and can be accessed by students,

administration, and faculty online. The college is also offering the software

free to the rural schools and colleges.

The project has been conceived more as a social service to the community of

educational institutions. Students and faculty of institutions in rural areas
will benefit immensely, being able to see and use IT. The knowledge and

experience gained by them will help them when they move to cities for employment

opportunities.
