5 Hot Tablets Announced at Computex Taipei 2013

A lot of new tablets were also demoed at Computex Taipei this year. Most of these new offerings feature a quad-core processor for better performance. If you're planning to buy a tablet in the coming months, here are five models you may want to keep watch out for.

Asus Transformer Pad

The tablet sports a 10.1-inch LED backlit IPS display that has a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels. It is powered by a 1.9GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 4 processor, has 2GB RAM and a 72-core GeForce graphics processor. The device sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and a 1.2-megapixel front facing camera. The Transformer Pad Infinity offers 32GB of internal storage.

Acer Iconia W3

With Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 pre-installed, the Acer Iconia W3 comes with a compact design to use comfortably in one hand for reading and web browsing, with a screen large enough for entertainment and desktop applications. It's ideal for professionals, students and families who want the ease of use of a one-hand tablet along with access to programs such as Word, Excel, etc. Powered by an Intel Atom processor, the device provides up to 8 hours of battery life, as Acer claim. The new tablet is available with either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.

Asus Transformer Book Trio

The Transformer Book Trio was one of several products Asus announced at Computex. The device which is touted as three-in-one' tab, laptop and desktop computer comprises of two separate computing devices in one with two processors, two operating systems, two sets of storage and two batteries. The device is powered by Intel's new fourth-generation processors and runs both Windows and Android operating systems.

This features an 11.6-inch screen and a detachable keyboard, which allows user to operate the device as a tablet or even a laptop computer. It can also be plugged into an external monitor and function as a desktop PC.

Lenovo Thinpad Tablet

Lenovo showed up at Computex Taipei show in Taiwan with a previously unseen gadget in hand-a new-generation tablet device so new it does not yet have a name. The device will feature next generation Intel processors with an always-on, smartphone-like experience. The device will deliver 10 hours or more of battery life as mentioned in Lenovo blog, and it will sport a 10.1-inch display.

Toshiba Excite Tablets

Toshiba introduced three new devices in its Excite family of Android tablets -the Excite Pro, Excite Write and Excite Pure.

Excite Pure pricing starts at $299.99 MSRP. Key specs include a 10.1-inch AutoBrite display (1280 x 800), NVIDIA Tegra 3 mobile processor, Android 4.2, Jelly Bean, 1GB DDR3 memory4, 16GB internal storage5, a 3MP front-facing camera, stereo speakers with DTS Premium Voice Pro, and built-in Micro HDMI, Micro USB ports and a Micro SD slot.

Excite Pro is priced at $499.99 MSRP. Key specs include a 10.1-inch PixelPure display (2560 x 1600), NVIDIA Tegra 4 mobile processor, Android 4.2, Jelly Bean, 2GB DDR3, 32GB internal storage, an 8MP rear camera, Harman Kardon stereo speakers with DTS Premium Voice Pro, and built-in Micro HDMI, Micro USB ports and a Micro SD slot.

Excite Write is priced at $599.99 MSRP3. Key specs include a 10.1-inch PixelPure digitizer display (2560 x 1600) featuring Corning Gorilla Glass 2, pressure sensitive Toshiba TruPen and TruNote application, NVIDIA Tegra 4 mobile processor, Android 4.2, Jelly Bean, 2GB DDR3 memory, 32GB internal storage, an 8MP rear camera, Harman Kardon stereo speakers with DTS Premium Voice Pro, and built-in Micro HDMI, Micro USB ports and a Micro SD slot.
