STEP 1: CHOOSE between LCD & DLP projector
LCD delivers better color saturation and sharper image but can be pixelated & have weak contrast levels
DLP produces better contrast but can produce ‘rainbow effect'- visible art defect
STEP 2: CONSIDER projector room for brightness
Brightness in lumens should be according to room lighting- 1000 lumens for controlled light, 1200 for ambient light, 2000 lumens for high amount of ambient light
STEP 3: DECIDE on lamp light as per viewing habit
Standard projectors have 2000-4000 hrs. of lamp light, bulbs cost Rs. 11,000- 27,500
Consider longer lamp light in case you want to use projectors for long hrs.
STEP 4: UNDERSTAND resolution for imaging
Codes like 420p, 720p, 1080p are indicators of projector's resolution: the higher, the better
DVDs work fine with 480p resolution, but consider 720 or 1080p for HDTV
STEP 5: CHOOSE the right cables for connection
Your projector should have at least one component video input
HD projectors have DVI or HDMI connection
STEP 6: READ reviews and ask your sales staff
Do a thorough search for the kind of projector you want
