The hot feature of this color laser is that its color print speeds are the same as black and white. It can be connected to the network and be used by workgroups and large office setups. It also has a parallel port and infrared connectivity. The hardware specs are good, consisting of a 400MHz processor and 160 MB RAM as standard expandable to 416 MB. An optional 10 GB hard disk can be connected to provide buffer to huge files. Coming to print quality and speeds, it offers 600x600 color resolution and a rated speed of 17 ppm for both color and black. We got a steady reading of 15 ppm in both cases. 

The first page took about 19 secs to print. Print quality for both text and graphics is extremely good. Color graphics are rich and sharp, while text prints are readable down to 2 point font size.

The black cartridge is priced at Rs 11,900 and yields 9000 pages, while the color costs Rs 16,000 and can print 8000 pages, giving an average cost per color print of just Rs 2 per page. Overall, a good buy for companies needing a large amount of good quality color prints at high speeds. Its monthly duty cycle is 85000 pages and has three input trays totaling to a capacity of 1100 sheets. It has an embedded Web server for manageability and an internal 10/100Base-Tx JetDirect print server to manage network printing. It also supports auto-duplexing for printing on both sides of the paper.
