This all-in-one device features inkjet color printer, copier, scanner and

fax. The network adaptability makes it an ideal device for a small workgroup and

it comes with 64 MB RAM. The printer and copier resolution is of 1200 x 1200

dpi. The memory card slots give facility for photo printing. The fax has

transmission speed of up to 33.6 kbps with facility for color faxing. The device

can store up to 125 fax pages and has a 'junk filter' feature to stop unwanted

fax. It supports high quality scanning of up to 2400 x 4800 dpi. Scanning can be

done even without installing the drivers using EWS (Embedded Web Server)

feature. EWS can be accessed from any browser over the network and allows for

various remote administration settings of the device like building up the Fax

directory etc. During our tests, it printed monochrome pages with 12 ppm speed

in normal mode, while for draft mode it was about 22 ppm. For color printing the

device gave a speed of 9 ppm in normal mode and for draft mode it was about 20

ppm. The first page was out in about 15 seconds for normal print mode. The print

quality was good even in the draft mode. In grey-scale and curves & lines

printing tests, the prints were of good quality and showed banding in draft mode

printing only. The copying of a document took about 18 seconds in normal and

about 43 seconds in best print mode.

Bottomline: An ideal MFD at this price for an SMB that also

provides color printing and copying functionality.
