HRDG , CSIR : Fellow Management System

Human Resource Development Group (HRDG) of Council of Scientific and
Industrial Research(CSIR) supports the research work of promising young people
across India in the emerging fields of S&T by way of Junior Research Fellowship
(JRF)/ Senior Research Fellowship(SRF)/ Research Associate-ship (RA). The
budgeting and planning for future fellowships was proving to be very difficult
task, in absence of reliable numbers/figures based on existing/traditional paper
file system, which was found to be deficient in managing the increasing number
of fellowships with depleting manpower resources. Apart from the business
challenges, there was a major hurdle being faced. The working staff had always
been using the manual paper system and it was difficult for them to immediately
adopt to the new web based system.Thus there was a need for move to a web based
system, which was easy to operate and manage, and which could work towards
reducing the workload and provide an easy to manage and use method for the work.

FMS has been designed to manage the entire life cycle of a fellowship starting
from issue of an award letter to the final termination. The software includes
modules to manage the correspondence with fellows, institutions, distribution of
stipend, contingency, fellowship up-gradation etc. Apart from the daily routine
office work related to CSIR Fellows, the FMS also provides quick results for
various queries.
