New Update

Mobile phones are fast becoming the channel of choice for conducting

last-mile, end-user transactions. Keeping this in mind, banks are fast pushing

across the entire gamut of retail banking services to customer's mobiles.

However, the proliferation of individual business units within large banks such

as ICICI have led to multiple product offerings being pitched to the customer.

However, each business group has designed mobile experience in isolation of the

other, thereby seriously impacting customer-level usability. This solution

supports the entire spectrum of mobile platforms and technologies — Plain SMS

and Thick client on Java, support for banking system interfaces-Web services,

XML, SOAP, etc, works on SMS, GPRS, runs on Windows, Java, and provides complete

end-to-end security. The various services enabled through the mobile solution

include Banking transactions, Balance Enquiry, Funds Transfer, Cheque Book

Request, credit card transactions, demat account, loan account and utility bill

payments. The bank plans to provide similar services to CDMA handset holders in

future. They also plan to roll it across locations outside India. Another plan

is to enable funds transfer from mobile to mobile, with the recipient being able

to withdraw cash using an ATM.
