Dr Bharat Bhasker, Professor of Information Technology and Systems at IIM Lucknow, has been conferred the "Best Professor of Information Technology Management" at the recently concluded Asia's Best B-School Awards in Singapore.
The Asia's Best B-School Awards are presented by CMO Asia with CMO Council as its Strategic Partner and Stars of the Industry Group as a research partner. The Awards of the highest stature are presented to Individuals and Institutions who have surpassed several levels of excellence and set an example of being a role model and exemplary leadership. Individuals behind the Institution who are building their Institutions through Leadership, Innovation, Academic and Industry Interface and a supreme objective of Building future leaders. In Jan 2004, he was honoured as the Best Researcher in the field of Electronic Commerce by the McMaster World Congress, Hamilton, Canada.
Prior to joining IIM Lucknow, Prof. Bhasker spent 11 years working in the leading research establishments in USA. Dr. Bhasker spent seven years with Goddard Space Flight Center of NASA in leading research and research management positions. His research contributions in Heterogeneous distributed database management systems, Heterogeneous distributed information management, Information retrieval from mass repositories, and Network Information Retrieval protocols won him a NASA's Best Research Productivity Award in 1992 in recognition of the research contributions. Dr. Bhasker was member of the High Performance Computer and Communications (HPCC) initiative of the NASA that lead to the Information Superhighway project. He worked for four years with MDL Information Systems and Sybase Inc., California, USA and was the architect of the massively parallel DBMS, Sybase MPP.
