Infosys' Automating Asset Management to Save 3833 Person Days of Effort

The Problem: IT assets managed in an enterprise span across tangible assets like hardware, infrastructure/facilities assets and intangible assets like virtual machines and software. It also encompasses delivering IT services for the enterprise with a wide range of services related to statutory and security compliance. Managing 850000+ assets spread across more than 70 locations and 30 countries presents a unique challenge in itself. Along with all the compliance and tracking, there is also a need to better utilize and maintain the assets so as to reduce the overall cost as well as manage the same with minimal amount of effort.

The Solution: Focusing on the above objectives, a set of applications were developed which helped to enhance the monitoring and tracking of hardware assets which could be owned, loaned or rented. It also helps in effective monitoring and license management of software assets. The assets are tracked right from the moment they enter the campus till the time they leave the campus.

The Result: Post implementation, there has been a marked increase in the utilization of assets. Also, it has become very easy to track all assets at any point of time which has helped in easily meeting compliance norms with minimal effort.
