Functionality & Features: This allows Infosys employees to “follow” colleagues, and also post questions to colleagues to enable knowledge sharing. Has a notification system like Facebook, and user can “like” and “share” posts. Employees can ask questions to colleagues they are “following”, allowing interaction with superiors in the company they may not usually get in contact with. Infy Bubble offers “groups”, encouraging employees to crowd source their knowledge on important issues.
Technology used: Built using .NET 3.5 and C# . Built on SharePoint, with 50% out-of-the-box features, and 50% in-house development.
USP: First full-fledged social network built on top of SharePoint.
It also has some features like Hot Topics and Watchlist, which are unique to the system. Here, the hottest topics being discussed automatically get bubbled up as a tag cloud which is visible to user based on which he/she can filter out discussions happening on specific topics. A user can also setup a Watchlist for topics that he/she wants to follow. For example, if a user is looking for a house on rent, he can setup a Watchlist term “rent” and the search engine provides the number of discussion threads in which this topic was discussed as well as easy navigation to the relevant threads.
Impact: 85,000 users out of 140,000 employees are using the solution.
