How to install Witcher 3 mods

The Witcher 3 on its own is a great game, but mods can make it even better. Read to find out how to install The Witcher 3 mods.

Netflix’s The Witcher has made the games quite popular these days. The Witcher 3 very recently crossed 100,000 players on Steam, which is quite a lot for a single player game.  Witcher 3 on its own is a great game, but mods can make it even better. Usually, installing mods is a time consuming process, but CD Projekt RED made installing Witcher 3 mods quite an easy process.

There are two ways in which you can install Witcher 3 mods, manual and through Nexus Mod Manager. 

Manual 

- To install a Witcher 3 mod manually, first download it from Nexus Mods. Usually, it is a Zip File. Extract the files into a single folder.

- Now find the location where you installed the mod. Usually, if you downloaded the game from steam, you will be able to find it in C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonThe Witcher 3 

- Now create a new folder and name it mods 

- Copy the downloaded mod and place it in the folder you created in the previous step

Voila! Your mod should work now. 

But installing mods is a complex thing. Some mods don’t work with other mods and are thus incompatible. Sometimes this conflict can be resolved by loading up mods in a specific order, known as the load order. So it is recommended to use the Nexus Mod Manager to install mods. It will notify you in case of conflicting mods, and in case there is a specific load order which can resolve the conflict, it will notify you of that as well.  

Here is how to install Witcher 3 mods with Nexus Mod Manager:

 - Go to Nexus Mods and create a free account to download the Nexus Mod Manager. 

 - Install the program. After this, it will scan the system for games. Confirm the file paths. 

 - Download Witcher 3 mods from Nexus Mods using the “Download with manager” button. TO do this you need to be logged in on both, the manager and the website.

-  You can also use the “download manually button”. In this case, the mod manager won’t start up but the mod will download directly from the browser. In the manager, you will have to add the mod manually. Use the green plus icon to do so. 

Now find the mod in the manager, and double click it. 

The mod is now installed.
