As expected, the Office suite on iPad has become a rage among iPad users across the globe and racked up 12 million downloads since its announcement last week. This hardly comes as a surprise because many critics had been eyeing the availability of Office on iPad for many years and the wait is finally over now.
With Office Suite available to these users, iPad undoubtedly becomes the perfect portable content generation device in the market. Apparently, Office applications like Word, Excel and OneNote among others have collectively been downloaded by 12 million users and we expect the numbers to go higher in the coming months.
Satya Nadella, the new CEO of Microsoft transforming the way Microsoft works, made the announcement of Office going open and reaching out to Android and iOS platform. The Office Suite on iPad comes with a catch as users need to subscribe to Office 360 to make use of the applications. Office for Mobile on Android comes for free and features full-fledged options to create, edit and save documents on their smart devices i.e. smartphone and tablets.
Interestingly, Office with touch support was made available to iPad users even before Android that did raise few eyebrows. With these numbers it does indicate that Apple's iWork suite might be the biggest loser in the scheme of things.
