The Intel vs AMD debate has been going on for a while now. Supporters from both sides have their own takes on the debate. In the wake of the global pandemic where prices are seeing a constant fluctuation, it can be hard for consumers to set their minds on one of them. Indian market extremely price-centric and it is very important for companies to deliver value for the price they quote.

That being said, here are 5 reasons why you should go for AMD CPUs over Intel in 2021.

Unlocked CPUs in Budget

The first reason to go for AMD processors in the Intel vs AMD debate is that the budget processors by AMD are unlocked. CPUs like the first-gen Ryzen 3 1200 and the latest Ryzen 3 3100 are unlocked. This means that users can overclock even the budget processors. Intel, on the other hand, provides unlocked CPUs only in the "K" series. Processors like the Intel Core i3 9100F and Core i5 10400F are not unlocked. Implying that even after buying the latest processor in the series, users won't be able to overclock these processors for better performance. Users can also overclock the AMD processors on a B450 motherboard. When it comes to Intel, if you want to overclock the "K" series processors, you will need at least a Z490 motherboard, which will increase the cost of the complete PC.

Support for Higher Frequency RAM

One of the most liked aspects of the AMD processors is that even the budget CPUs support RAM with higher frequency. Higher frequency RAMs, with a speed of 3200mHz, can deliver a significant performance boost. The Intel Core i5 10400F which costs around INR 15K supports RAM with the frequency of 2666mHz. Users can go for higher frequency RAM, but the processor will downclock it to the compatible and supported frequency. This makes no sense for the users to invest in better RAM. The newer and cheaper AMD Ryzen 3 3100, being a quad-core processor, supports 3200mHz RAM and is cheaper than the Intel i5 alternative.

Performance Across Processors

Intel aced the performance game when it came to high-end processors. AMD always struggled with single-core performance, and not all tasks require multi-core functionality. That changed with the launch of 5000-series processors from AMD. The new line of processors are not only better in multi-core performance but also beat the competition, Intel, in single-core performance. This takes the Intel vs AMD debate to another level, as the only redeeming factor of Intel processors is now being challenged.

Architecture

Intel has been stuck on the 14-nm architecture for its processors for so long that now it seems as if the company is just trolling the consumers. The rumours say that the upcoming processors are also going to be based on some rendition of the 14-nm architecture. There is nothing wrong with the current architecture but the competition, AMD in this case, has transitioned into 7-nm architecture. What is the difference that can be seen? The major difference is energy efficiency. A processor based on the 7-nm architecture consumes less energy and produces less heat, helping the system run cooler.

Pricing

The Intel vs AMD debate has revolved around pricing for a very long time. AMD has been winning this price debate for a very long time. However, with the rise of the global pandemic, prices have seen a fluctuation. However, the value and performance delivered by AMD processors are still better than Intel. This is also one of the major reasons why people still prefer going with AMD processors over Intel.

These are the reasons why one should go for AMD processors. They make more sense in the current scenario with regard to the performance that they can deliver. The debate can go on forever. It all boils down to the choice of the customer.
