Last year, we had a single category called Internet and WAN connectivity provider, but this year, we separated it into two categories to find out the usage in each. The results are indeed different. While Tata/VSNL takes away the crown in 500+ employees segment with Airtel as runner-up, BSNL is the winner in the 100-499 employees segment with Tata/VSNL as runner up. Reliance Infocomm and Net4India are on the fourth and fifth spots.

In the 100-499 employees category, BSNL enjoys 88% brand loyalty, with 8% of its existing users likely to Airtel and another 4% to Tata/VSNL. So unless the public sector telecom giant is careful, it could see the carpet getting swiped from under its feet gradually with the private players taking over. Tata/VSNL enjoys a cool 92% brand loyalty, but the remaining 8% of its existing users likely to move to MTNL. Airtel on the other hand enjoys the highest brand loyalty at 95% with the remaining 5% of its existing users unsure about which brands to shift to.

In the 500+ employees segment, the winner Tata/VSNL enjoys 89% brand loyalty, with a minor 2% likely shift out to YOU and another 2% to Reliance. Runner-up Airtel enjoys higher loyalty of 94% with 3% likely to shift to Net4. BSNL's brand loyalty is 96% here, while Reliance Infocomm's stands at 86%. The remaining users of both brands weren't sure which brand to shift to. Net4India enjoyed 100% brand loyalty amongst its customers across this and the other survey segment.

Coming to reasons for choosing a particular brand, product reliability was the topmost reason for choosing any brand, but with differences. In the 100-499 segment, this reason was given by 100% of users who were likely to use Tata/VSNL and MTNL. In case of BSNL, only 70% gave this reason. 91% of Airtel, 94% of RIL, and 92% of Net4's users gave this reason. For more info about other reasons and other survey segment, please refer to the table.
