The first tablet from Intex, the iTab has an 8-inch capacitive 2-point touchscreen which is quite responsive as compared to other tablets. However, weighing at 475 gms, this is one of the heavier tablets in the race. It is still heavy even if we consider that the tablet has the biggest screen on offer amongst the ones reviewed .The build quality of the tablet was the best in class amongst those received. The tablet runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) which might be upgradable to the latest ICS 4.0. It supports wireless LAN connectivity and does not have in-built 3G. But you can still get 3G connectivity on it using the Intex 3G data card which comes free with this tablet. This helps make the tablet usable while on the move as missing GPRS connectivity would have spelt doom for its adoption. It has a full size USB port and integrated GPS module for navigation. It only has a front facing 0.3 MP camera which leaves room for a back camera which is a surprise omission at this price. The hardware specs are at par with those of its competitors. However, the 8 GB internal memory can be expanded to 32 GB. Also, the tablet relies on a 5000 mAh battery which is the biggest amongst those compared. This should be enough to power the tab while on the move. The tablet can be charged using a proprietary charger from Intex. Intex is also providing a LAN to USB adapter which is an excellent add-on as one could plug in an Ethernet cable while not on the move. This would help save battery by turning Wi-Fi off when not required. The other positives for the tablet include a full 1080p HDMI video out which would be instrumental in HD video playback on an HD TV.

Bottomline: A pretty decent tablet with good battery and 8-inch screen has got most things going right for it.
