They keep getting faster and faster! Ever since USB 2.0 has become common, external CD-Writers have seen a constant rise in writing speeds. So much so that today they’ve achieved the same writing speeds as ordinary read speeds of CD-ROM drives. This time, we reviewed an external drive from Iomega. While the drive performed very well, the challenge we faced was in finding media of equal speeds.

The drive is quite sturdy and supports all the regular features associated with CD-Rewriters, including buffer under-run protection. As for write speeds the Writer did quite well, giving good speeds, most of which were well below 3 mins and quite comparable to other drives in the market. The performance differential was not more than 5 secs in most. Overall, a good choice if you’re willing to pay the extra amount for an external drive.
