Many iPhone users at times users experience a common problem wherein the iPhone doesn’t boot up which is mainly due to the system level bug. For those users, force restart comes as a handy solution. While many know how to do it, there are still new iPhone buyers, that don’t know how to force restart an iPhone.
While the force restart helps you fix an unresponsive iPhone due to an update gone wrong or might be because of a bug, but, you shouldn’t do it, if your phone is working properly.
For iPhone 8, iPhone X, and higher
These iPhones have a different process for force restart as they don’t have a physical home button. Press and release the ‘volume up’ button and then do the same for the ‘volume down’ button. The press and hold the ‘side’ till you see Apple logo on the screen. The whole process might take appox 30 seconds. After the logo appears, release the side button. Your iPhone will now reboot.
For iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus
While the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have a capacitive Home button, the force restart process of these phones is slightly different from the above-mentioned iPhones.
To force restart, press and hold the ‘volume down’ and the ‘side’ button together till you see the Apple logo on the screen.
For iPhone 6s and older
These phones are simple to reboot. Simply press the ‘Home’ and ‘Sleep/Wake’ button until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
