Recently, Apple in its second quarter financial results posted iPhone revenue at $31.05 billion, which is still less to what Apple made in the previous years. The main reason of downfall is due to sky-high prices and the longer smartphone replacement cycles. Consumers nowadays tend to keep their phones for a longer period and are not willing to upgrade until there is some meaningful innovation in them.

But, first, let’s take into account why these phones are priced so high. The main reason is the constant depreciation of rupee against the dollar and the import prices, and the second being that these expensive iPhones are not manufactured in India.

While according to Apple, the iPhone Xs Max is the most advanced iPhone, but is it really worth spending a lakh on a smartphone. Let’s find out.

iPhone Xs Max: What it offers?

The iPhone Xs Max builds on the same design as that of iPhone X and features OLED display with a Super Retina technology. The smartphone is powered by the 7nm A12 Bionic chip that features a six-core fusion architecture with two performance cores that are up to 15 per cent faster, four efficiency cores that are up to 50 per cent more efficient, a four-core GPU that is up to 50 per cent faster. The 12MP dual camera system is faster than its predecessor and comes with dual optical image stabilisation with 2x optical zoom. The smartphone further comes with Face ID offering users a unique and secure way to unlock their devices. While many smartphone manufacturers have copied that feature, still, none of them works as great as in the iPhones.

iPhone Xs Max: What it lacks?

The main reason behind the decline of the iPhone Xs Max sales is ‘no useful innovation.’ We all at any given point in our lives have waited to get new smartphones simply because they offer improved cameras, great displays and come with additional features than their predecessors. But, when it comes to iPhones, this innovation has slowed down.

If you already own an iPhone X, the new iPhone Xs Max doesn’t offer much when it comes to innovation, rather offers slight upgrades to iPhone X in terms of display, big screens and some of the camera modes.

So, should you upgrade?

If you do not want to spend a huge amount of money, then companies such as Vivo, OnePlus could come to your rescue as they kind of imitate Apple in software experience and launch devices at just half the prices of what Apple offers.

If you want a great camera, speedy performance and can live without iOS, then OnePlus 6T, Vivo V15 Pro, Vivo Nex, etc. are few of the smartphones that offer great value on your money spent.
