Is Huawei Mate X3 the Slimmest Foldable Smartphone with Water Resistance?

A new foldable smartphone from Huawei has been introduced in China to compete with models like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, Oppo Find N2, Vivo X Fold+, and Xiaomi Mix Fold 2.

The Huawei Mate X3 is the company's most recent foldable smartphone and the first one outside of Samsung to have an IPX8 rating for water resistance.

Huawei Mate X3 Specifications

With a 4G modem, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC powers the Huawei Mate X3. The most recent foldable phone from Huawei has a 4,800 mAh battery that supports 50W wireless charging and 66W wired fast charging.

The Mate X3 uses HarmonyOS 3.1 instead of Android. The Mate X3 has a flexible LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2504 x 1080 pixels on the outside. The panel has a touch sampling rate of 300 Hz and an adaptive refresh rate of 1 Hz to 120 Hz.

On the inside of the phone, there is also a 7.85-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2496 x 2224 pixels.

The inner display lacks LTPO technology but has a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate.

High-frequency PWM dimming at 1440 Hz is available on both screens. Additionally, the inner screen has an 8:7.1 aspect ratio while the outer display has a 20.9:9 aspect ratio.

Camera Details

The Huawei Mate X3 has three cameras for optics: a 50 MP primary sensor, a 13 MP ultrawide sensor, and a 12 MP Periscope camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 5x optical zoom, and an f/3.4 aperture.

In addition, the Mate X3 has two 8 MP cameras: one on the internal display and one on the external cover screen.

As previously stated, the Huawei Mate X3 is the first foldable smartphone that does not come from Samsung to have an IPX8 rating for water resistance. The phone also supports satellite communication in both directions. The Mate X3 weighs 239 grams and has a thickness of 11.08 mm when folded and only 5.3 mm when unfolded.

The base model of the Huawei Mate X3 comes in at CNY 12,999 (roughly Rs 1,56,550).
