New Update

Looking at the proliferation of ISPs, we had split this category into three: ISPs for dial-up, broadband and corporates. Interestingly, we had the same winner in all three, VSNL, and that too by a wide margin. At number two, Satyam was chosen as the ISP for dial-up, while Dishnet was preferred for broadband and by corporates. Good quality and better service were the key things users look for when buying an ISP account. Satyam seems to be the popular brand because most voters gave ‘well-known brand’ as the criterion for choosing it.

The ISP market has become very competitive with players trying all sorts of strategies. The latest is cheap calling rates to the US using IP telephony-based calling cards. This should be an interesting space to watch out for next year.
