The Problem: Over the years, the banking giant had accumulated a mixed IT environment, as each group company requisitioned and implemented its own technology platforms. This was expensive and high on maintenance and management. The bank decided to consolidate this infrastructure and get all entities on the same platform. A decision to modernize and standardize the platform came from a group-wide perspective.
The Solution: Kotak Bank deployed Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, Active Directory 2008 and Microsoft Lync Server 2010. Some of the challenges that had to be overcome were to onboard different group companies for a joint vision and objective. Integrating existing infrastructure into a single environment with minimal impact or downtime was another challenge. The whole project was completed in less than 3 months, which is a major achievement considering that around 15,000 users had to be migrated.
The Result: As a result of standardization and consolidation, the group now has a comprehensive communication and collaboration infrastructure that has transformed its business culture. The solution that was implemented was able to meet their current business needs of achieving single source of information and authentication for all existing and future group-wide applications, compliance, high availability, mobility and scalability.
