Samsung may be a powerhouse when it comes to smartphones but one must not ignore its credentials in the laptop segment as well. The NP300E5X is a competent product that caters to users with basic usage. It does not offer a graphics card, which is why any gaming enthusiast should look at other options. It ticks a lot of boxes for a budget device: good build quality, nice display, lightweight, etc. Apart from that, the laptop scores on looks as well and is highly recommended to travelers. However, the web camera does not offer high quality video output. Other than that, basic things like scroll, num and caps lock indicators are missing and they show up on the screen itself.

Dell Vostro 2520

Vostro caters to Dell's professional line-up and the screen's contrast, black levels and brightness are more than acceptable given the laptop's price. The device can easily cope with routine application scenarios and provides more than enough power for most computer users. Regrettably, Dell has not placed much value on good maintenance. The entire laptop has to be disassembled to change the hard drive or clean the fan. The Vostro 2520 could also be a touch less noisy. It is an office laptop and considering the price, it's a good option to give to your employees for basic productivity work.

This laptop can easily handle basic computing operations like working on MS-Word or surfing through the web. Aided by 4 GB RAM, the laptop offers easy multi-tasking, even while watching multiple video streams, which is quite handy and does not slow down the system whatsoever. Sadly, the laptop's GPU does not support graphics centric usage such as gaming but we can understand given its price. The laptop delivers a quiet output which is a definite advantage; however, the battery life on G580 is not long-lasting and offers life up to 2.5 hours, which is quite mediocre.

Price: Rs 24,000

It comes with Windows 8 OS and is easy to use with good features. The processor is not the most powerful, which means that even with an inbuilt graphics card the laptop is not capable of handling heavy gaming usage. It comes with 2 GB RAM which is expandable up to 8 GB. It offers 500 GB hard disk storage, which is enough for anyone who likes to save movies, music and pictures. It has all the extra features that you would require like a web cam, mic, HDMI port, USB 3.0, multi card slot, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, gesture track pad, etc. The battery backup is about 2.5-3 hrs. It is recommended to those who are into internet surfing, watching movies, listening to music with restricted gaming.

Acer Aspire One 722

The Aspire One 722 offers the same 1,366x768-pixel resolution that is available on 13 to 15-inch laptops. In terms of power, it packs an AMD chipset with 4 GB DDR3 RAM and a hefty 500 GB HDD. The viewing angles are quite good while the small display may need some getting used to. The small size of Aspire One results in a congested set of keyboard along with short cut keys for volume and brightness clubbed with the up/down and right/left buttons on the left side. The speakers placed beneath the netbook are quite average and the use of speakers/headphone seems unimaginable. The battery on Aspire One is quite handful and even with such high-powered configuration for a smaller laptop, this one delivers close to 4 hours.
