To begin with, just install the driver and connect the USB cable for wired printing. And in case you want to print wirelessly, select the WPS (Wi-Fi protected set-up) button on the access point (router), and press the WPS button on the printer. The printer is light and takes little space on your desk. As of performance, it is passable with its print speed, but the print quality at a resolution of 1200x600dpi is impressive. The first page output time is 8 sec and the print speed is 14ppm. The printer features an easy-to-reach power button right on the front panel, so you can switch to an energy-saving standby mode at the push of a button. Samsung ML1866W prints in black/white and supports Dupleix printing too, but that works only manually. The front paper tray can handle upto 150 sheets, while the output has a capacity of 100 sheets. It supports media formats such as A4, A5, Letter, Legal, Envelope, etc. It is priced at 7.5k, which is less than HP LaserJet 1108, which prints at 18ppm. It still has the edge because of wireless printing, which is not available in HP 1108.
Bottomline: Samsung ML1866W is not an outstanding performer, yet is a stunner because it offers a lot, like dupleix and Wireless printing, for just 7k.
