Lenovo has revealed that a few areas will soon be able to purchase their ThinkReality VRX virtual reality headset. The newest VR headset from Lenovo, created for business users, is powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 1 CPU and runs Android 12.

Can the ThinkReality VRX headset be used as an all-in-one standalone?

The ThinkReality VRX headset can be used as an all-in-one standalone, wirelessly, or wired connected to a PC or workstation. Lenovo asserts that its most recent VR headset is more comfortable, lighter, and slimmer than competing products. Additionally, it provides a 6DoF experience and full-colour, high-resolution pass-through capabilities, which are helpful in various simulations.

It boasts a refresh rate of 70-90Hz, 12GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a resolution of 2280 x 2280 per eye. The  ThinkReality VRX headset contains built-in speakers, two microphones, a 3.5mm connection, and a field of view of 95 degrees. It also includes buttons on the headset, 6DoF controllers, and hand tracking. A 6,900mAh battery that can be charged using USB-C supports all of this.

Lenovo’s ThinkReality VRX headset, like Meta Quest Pro, has pancake lenses stacked on top of one another and a cooling system that directs heat away from the wearer’s face. The business also provides XR solutions, such as ThinkReality XR Services, which comprises a cloud platform that may assist with the worldwide deployment and management of enterprise applications and offers end-to-end services to help customers from strategy to delivery.

The ThinkReality A3 AR glasses unveiled earlier this year at MWC 2023 are among the company’s commercial XR hardware solutions that have recently been expanded to include the headset. The Lenovo ThinkReality VRX will launch in a few locations in June of this year, with prices starting at $1,299.

What rumours exist regarding the upcoming VR headset?

The AR/VR headgear is rumoured to include two to three displays. There will be two 8K full resolution, high-quality 4K micro-OLED panels with up to 3,000 pixels per inch. Apple is anticipated to use display modules from Sony, while it may include some Samsung OLED screens.

Does VR have a future?

Virtual reality (VR) is an intriguing aspect of technology with many future possibilities. Although these headsets are still being prepared for general use, it’s nevertheless essential to watch them. Significant advancements will likely be made in the next five to ten years to make it more cosy and useful for daily use.
