LG has launched its rumored Android tablet G Pad 8.3 globally and this high-end tablet will be available in the market by end of this year. The Korean based brand has bided its time in entering the highly popular segment and with its G Pad the company will be looking to compete with the established duo of Samsung and Apple while also tussling with Sony.

The G Pad two is the second product from LG to be branded without their signature Optimus branding. The company had launched its first G branded smartphone, G 2 which was seen as the successor to LG Optimus G Pro.

Talking about the G Pad 8.3, the tablet sports an 8.3 inch full HD display with 1920x1200 pixels resolution. Under the hood, the tablet packs a 1.7 GHz quad-core CPU ably supported by 2 GB RAM. It comes with 16 GB internal memory and it is not clear whether the tablet supports microSD slot.

The tablet is based on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean version which should be upgradable to Android 4.3 very soon. Other than that you have a 5 MP rear camera, 1.3 MP front camera for video calling and a 4600 mAh battery. The tablet is not the heaviest around the market at 338 grams but its heavier than the affordable tablets like Google Nexus 7 (299 grams) among others.

LG has informed that the tablet will be available in the market in Q4 2013 and it remains to be seen how LG plans to position its product considering that pretty much same specs are now available on the next-gen Nexus 7 which was launched couple of months back at Google I/O event. Amazon is also expected to launch its new version of Kindle Fire HD tablets later this year so it will come down to how LG plans to target its first tablet.
