It’s huge, this 40” Flatron PDP (plasma display panel). LG says that it’s the thinnest display panel at 78 mm. You can install it anywhere at home–given that you’ve got Rs 5.4 lakh to spare, and a huge room to hang it in–or at offices, institutions, stadia, malls, airports and railway stations.
It’s easy to set up and has inputs for your PC, DVD, VCR and camcorders, which can be connected to the PDP or through a set-top box that comes with it. For a cable connection you will need either a set-top box or a TV tuner. It comes with a remote control unit with multifunctional keys that control the TV, VCR and cable TV.
The screen size is 805.4x602 mm with a resolution of 640x480, and a view angle of 160 degrees. It comes with detachable speakers of 30 watts RMS, and weighs 33 kg.
Its price of Rs 5,40,000 covers the panel, detachable speakers, set-top box and a wall-hanging bracket. The panel alone costs
Rs 4,50,000. LG also has a 60” PDP–the largest they claim–for Rs 15 lakh.
