With the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX 3.0, Lifecell has integrated
its financial activities, project planning, sales and inventory management.
Earlier they had a Tally and FoxPro based inventory management system, but with
the number of branches increasing, the legacy applications became severe
limitations in terms of connectivity. Therefore, the finance, trade, trade
agreements and logistics modules of Dynamics AX 3.0 were chosen and implemented.
Some unique requirements were also addressed during the implementation. The
revenue amortization at Lifecell is generated from the storage service fees of
the stem cell. There are several plans with varying payment options which are
offered to customers. In case of payments to be made by a customer over the
following years, it was set to be recognized as revenue for those years only.
This business process was mapped and configured effectively through standard
Dynamics AX. Likewise, complex and varied product-plans were configured in the
item master and the bill of
material to fit into Lifecell's business model. The implementation enabled
quicker and more informed decision-making and also led to related benefits such
as improved debtors and collection management.
