New Update

BlackBerry has ousted its first-ever full touch smartphone Z3 for consumers in Indonesia codenamed ‘Jakarta' and as the name suggest, that's where the phone is heading to first up. The BlackBerry Z3 was announced along with the Q20 during MWC earlier this year.  It runs on the BlackBerry 10.2 version (BB10.2) but now we've been given more clarity as to what the first mid-range BlackBerry device from Foxconn will look like.

According to reports in Indonesia where the phone is now available for pre-order, it sports a 5-inch 540×960 pixels display and is a full-fledged touch device, a first for BlackBerry in this range. It packs a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 chipset clubbed with 1.5 GB RAM. Performance wise, BlackBerry devices have never been slouch and by joining hands with Foxconn, one can expect similar results with Z3 as well.

The next set of features will highlight the mid-range nature of the device which is expected to be priced at upwards of Rs 11,500 in Indonesia from its launch date i.e. 13 May. It comes fitted with a 5 MP rear camera and a 1.1 MP front snapper. One can expand the 8 GB internal storage up to 32 GB via microSD and get standard connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G (HSPA) and NFC among others. BlackBerry has however loaded the big smartphone with a 2500 mAh battery for power-efficient usage.

The phone will be shortly making its way to Indian shores after which we'll be able to assess the worth of the device that is expected to attract good customer response in India and see itself compete against the likes of Motorola Moto G.
